Quantum Training
Submitted by SusanABrown
“You can have your cake and eat it.”
Said the quantum trainer
“All the creamy sponge you like,
The tempting tart, oozing chocolate
You can have all that and stay as thin
As if you'd dined on fronds of grass
Diced in mist, gluon-garnished.”
“We'll have some more then” we all said.
“Yes go ahead, tuck in!
Think suprapositional....
You can straddle Joe, shack up with Lynn
While staying chaste as hellion monks
Omming the soar of summits.
We won't dwell on the mathematics.
Know that you are twines in space
Knots of mouth and nose and eye
You see what you think is you
But when you look away,
You spool in wild unheeded loops
Weightless, subverting time”.
“You're saying that we don't exist?”
“I'm saying you can only see a fraction of yourselves.”
We breathed
And let our minds
Unmooring from their hub of sense
suspended, fall, six up, six down.
I saw another self
Reading under Northern pines
The Southern light danced turquoise
And by my side you sat and laughed
You,laughing by my side.
Irena found a sweep in space
Unglazed by any hint of light
And on the inky mural sprayed
Ghost fractals of her "wasted" life.
Derek came up ashen
And said with all these "sodding selves"
He'd cancelled himself out.
In time the others too grew pale
The class size dwindled.
The quantum trainer slyly shrugged
Packing the cat and poison vile
Snapping her svelte collider shut.
“We humans like to pin things down
We don’t much like a paradox
Things slithering, beyond our grasp
The grass both parched and emerald.
They'll be back,” said the quantum trainer
“When the world encroaches, presses in
And the tumbling, trickster quantum world
Pulls bam from the hat the quirky spin
The whirl of possibilities that whips us out....
Released, unearthed, unpinned.”
