H G Wells (1866 - 1946)
H G Wells (1866 - 1946) was a British writer and is well known for his novels 'The War of the Worlds', 'The Invisible Man', 'The Time Machine'. He was a prolific writer and most of his works contain some political or social commentary. In 1883, HG Wells won a scholarship to the Normal School of Science, which is now part of Imperial College, London, and here he studied biology under T. H. Huxley. He later helped to set up, and became the president of the Royal College of Science Association.
