Steven Weinberg (1933 -) is an American physicist who won the Nobel Prize in Physics in 1979 for unifying electromagnetism and the weak force into the electroweak force. Besides his research, Weinberg is a prominent spokesperson for science and has testified before Congress in support of the Superconducting Super Collider as well as giving many public lectures on the broader meaning of science. He has also written many popular science books covering topics related to history, philosophy of science and atheism.
