Alfred Russel Wallace (1823 - 1913)
Alfred Russel Wallace (1823 - 1913) was a Welsh biologist, anthropologist and geographer and is sometimes known as the father of "biogeography". He was a contemporary of Charles Darwin and independently developed a theory of natural selection. Wallace's work prompted Darwin to publish his own detailed studies and theories that he had been working on for 20 years.
