Claude Levi-Strauss (1908 - )
Claude Levi-Strauss (1908 - ) is a French anthropologist. He studied law and philosophy at the Sorbonne in Paris but conducted his first ethnographic fieldwork in Brazil, where he lived with and studied various tribes from 1935 to 1939. During World War 2, Levi-Strauss lived in New York City but later returned to Paris where he began to publish his academic works which achieved high regard. He was elected to the Acad?mie Fran?aise in 1973
