Primo Levi (1919 ? 1987)
Primo Levi (1919 ? 1987) was an Italian chemist and writer. He is well known for his account of the year he spent as a prisoner in Auschwitz concentration camp, 'If This Is a Man', which has been described as one of the most important works of the twentieth century. He studied Chemistry at the University of Turin and after his time in Auschwitz became an industrial chemist. It was during this time that he began to write about his experiences.
