Gottfried Wilhelm Leibniz (1646 - 1716)
Gottfried Wilhelm Leibniz (1646 - 1716) was a German philosopher and mathematician who also worked in politics and diplomacy. He also made major contributions to physics and technology and invented the binary system. During a visit to London, he was made an external member of the Royal Society after demonstrating a calculating machine he had designed and built.
