Antonie van Leeuwenhoek (1632-1723)
Antonie van Leeuwenhoek (1632-1723) is commonly known as "the Father of Microbiology". He well known for his work to improve the microscope. He used his own, handcrafted microscope to observe microorgansims, which he then called "animacules", for the first time.
