Martin Luther King Jr. (1929 - 1968) won the Nobel Peace Prize in 1964. An American Baptist minister and political activist, King was the most famous leader of the American Civil Rights movement, promoting racial equality. He is well known for his influential speech 'I Have A Dream' which King made during the 1963 March on Washington for Jobs and Freedom. In 1968 King was assassinated and escaped convict James Earl Ray was charged with his murder.
