E. Y. Harburg (1896 - 1981) was an American lyricist who successfully worked both on Broadway and in Hollywood. Harburg wrote the lyrics for The Wizard of Oz for which he won the Academy Award for Best Music, Original Song for Somewhere Over the Rainbow.
