Richard Buckminster Fuller (1895 ? 1983) was an American designer, architect and inventor. Throughout his life, Fuller was concerned with the question of how humans could successfully continue to live on planet Earth. Pursuing this question, Fuller wrote many books and made several inventions - including the geodesic dome. A carbon molecule which has a similar shape to the geodesic dome has been named Buckminsterfullerene in his honour.
