Sir Arthur Eddington (1882 ? 1944) was an English astrophysicist. He is famous for his work regarding the theory of relativity and in 1919 he wrote an article which announced Einstein's theory of general relativity in English. Eddington studied at Trinity College, Cambridge and later went on to become chief assistant to the Astronomer Royal at the Royal Greenwich Observatory. Eddington was also a populariser of science writing several books aimed at a lay audience including 'The Nature of the Physical World'.
