Richard Dawkins (1941 -) is a British evolutionary theorist and popular science writer. After studying at Baliol College, Oxford, Dawkins came into prominence with his 1976 book, 'The Selfish Gene'. He has since written several best-selling books including 'The Extended Phenotype' and now holds the Charles Simonyi Chair in the Public Understanding of Science at Oxford University. Dawkins is also an atheist and often comments on science, religion and politics.
