Humphry Davy (1778 - 1829)
Humphry Davy (1778 - 1829) was a chemist and physicist from Cornwall in Southwest England. He was a popular lecturer and Davy became well known for his experiments and demonstrations which often included laughing gas. In 1801 he was nominated professor at the Royal Institution of Great Britain and Fellow of the Royal Society. He became president of the Royal Society in 1820.
