Jacques Yves Cousteau (1910 - 1997) was a French explorer, ecologist, filmmaker and photographer who studied the sea and all forms of life in water. He pioneered marine conservation and co-developed the aqua-lung in 1943. He later became a member of the Acad?mie Fran?aise.
