Michael Collins (1930 -)
Michael Collins (1930 -) is a former American astronaut. He flew in space twice and became the first Irishman in space. His space flights were Gemini 10 and Apollo 11. While he orbited the Moon, Neil Armstrong and Buzz Aldrin performed the first humans to step foot on the moon. After retiring from NASA he became the first director of the National Air and Space Museum until 1978 when he stepped down to become undersecretary of the Smithsonian Institution.
