Arthur C. Clarke (1917 - )
Arthur C. Clarke (1917 - ) is a British author and inventor. He has also been chairman of the British Interplanetary Society. After the second World War he studied mathematics and physics at Kings College, London and proposed the idea that geostationary satellites could be ideal telecommunications relays. In 1969 he wrote the science fiction novel '2001: A Space Odyssey' and the 2001 Mars Odyssey orbiter is named in honor this.
