Emily Bronte (1818-1848)
Emily Jane Bronte (1818-1848) was one of six children born to Irish Anglican minister Patrick Bronte. She grew up in Yorkshire, England and was very close to her sister Anne with whom she created a fantasy land inspired by books such as Arabian Nights. She was quiet and reserved and very attached to her home. Now famous for her novel Wuthering Heights, her work was not well-received during her lifetime and was thought to have the potential to corrupt. Emily died from tuberculosis at the age of 30.
