Niels Bohr (1885 - 1962) won the Nobel Prize for Physics in 1922 for his contributions to the modern understanding of atomic structure and quantum mechanics. Bohr was a Danish physicist who studied at Copenhagen University before moving to Manchester, England to study under Earnest Rutherford. Here in 1912, Bohr published his model of atomic structure. He later returned to Copenhagen to become a professor and was awarded the Nobel Prize.
