Neil Armstrong (1930 - ) was the first human to set foot on the Moon. He is an American former Astronaut whose last space flight was as mission commander of the Apollo 11 moon landing on July 20, 1969 during which when he spent 2 and a half hours exploring the moon. Since returning to Earth, Armstrong was appointed to be the Deputy Associate Administrator for aeronautics for the Office of Advanced Research and Technology and later went on to teach at Cincinnati University's department of engineering.
