/ A pigs bladder holds about two litres of urine (half a gallon.) (See what the pig has to endure for someone to figure out that statistic by clicking here)

/ Pigs bladders were blown up while still in their very smelly ‘green state’ solely by lung power down the stem of a clay pipe which was inserted into the opening of the bladder. Another Old Rugby School boy, Richard Lindop, is credited with the invention of the inflatable rubber bladder which replaced the pig’s bladder by 1870. About the same time an inflator was also invented.

/ The modern rugby ball is made of polyurethane, synthetic leather, laminated polyester, latex and glue - designed to keep its shape and withstand the elements.

/ The Rugby Football Union was formed in January 1871, two months before the first ever Test was played at Raeburn Place in Edinburgh between Scotland and England, a match Scotland won 4-1. England avenged this defeat in their next Test the following year, and the Rugby Football Union joined the International Rugby Board in 1890.

/ The first club in Australia – the Sydney University Rugby Union Club – was not formed until 1864 with others appearing over the next decade. An Australian team played their first ever Test in June 1899 against a touring Great Britain side, a match they won 13-3 at the Sydney Cricket Ground, and nine years later the Wallabies were crowned Olympic rugby champions at the Games in London.

Thank you for all the knowledge! I am especially interested in how the scoring has changed throughout the generations. Question: What is the meaning of the Gilbert Logo?
