Googlewhacking - The Art of the Googlewhack

-
By Stuart Brown

A wicked thought might spring into your mind at this point. Forget Googlewhacking, or Googlejacking. How about Googlestabbing? Which is the name I have just invented for the heinous crime of killing Googlewhacks! I know you are tempted people to kill that phrase you found on Googlewhacking.com by inserting it into your own web pages. But don't do it. Remember respect a googlewhack and you respect the world. Or something like that!

Anyway, this ramble was prompted by an email from Gavin McHenry alerting me to the fact that there was a googlewhack on one of FirstScience.com's webpages here:

http://www.firstscience.com/site/articles/sykes.asp

Unfortunately, I cannot tell you what it is, because I would Googlestab it. However, lurk there it most certainly does, and it has been duly registered as a winner on googlewhacking.com. Tip - Remember if you want to search for it on the firstscience page that the two words may not be next to each other in the article! Also, one word begins with an 'M' and the other an 'S'.

Anyhow, in the true spirit of Googlewhacking - today I want to announce a Googlewhacking Competition. The rules are simple.

1/ I want to find every pure Googlewhack that lurks within the pages of FirstScience.com. It MUST be pure ie It should say '1 - 1 of 1' in the blue bar and please once you think you have found one go to http://www.googlewhack.com/whack.pl first and check it is a genuine googlewhack.

2/ If it is genuine then first put yourself in the Hall of Fame on Googlewhack.com in the following way - 'Your Name - FirstScience.com Competition' so that other fellow contestants can see which ones have been found (I cannot announce them for obvious reasons!)

3/ Then please send me an email with the title 'Googlewhack' to including your full name, the googlewhack you found, link to the search in google and the exact page location where you found it on Firstscience. I will take a look immediately, and check it for uniqueness against ones already found.(Only FirstScience.com Googlewhacks please!)
