4/ FM Tuner - Now this is cool! This device is actually illegal in the UK, because it uses the radio waves to play your songs on any FM radio without wires. So DON'T GET THIS IF YOU LIVE IN THE UK! I didn't. Heaven forbid! Are you hearing me people? Don't even think about going here and seeing what all the fuss is about! Anyway, what this does is allow you to play the tunes on your ipod over your car radio, wirelessly. Or any radio come to that. Other users seem very happy with the way this works... Great for long car journeys (So I'm told!)

5/ External Speakers - Now, I know that the ipod is supposedly a 'personal audio' device. But the fact is that if it contains your whole music collection then it is quite convenient to sometimes play it out loud in the kitchen, the living room or the study whilst you are doing other things. And so with that thought in mind I also bought some external speakers for it. Now, I didn't want to hump around massive speakers with me everywhere. And I wanted something that was convenient and would also work when I went on holiday. So I plumped for the JBL On Tour Speakers, which are very portable. They cost £72.99. So are also on the lower end of the scale of the available options in terms of price.

Word of warning - If you are going to use external speakers with your ipod, then let me repeat that also buying a docking station is an absolute must. The sound is SO much better when the ipod is first plugged into the docking station, you just wouldn't believe it.

Worth it? Your call. But the sound is superb with these speakers and a docking station. And there is a surprising amount of Oomph in the sound. Plenty loud and clear enough for my tastes anyway.

And if you also get the wireless remote control that I mentioned. It means that you can set this up and then change songs from across the room, which is very convenient if you are doing other things and want to change tracks with a minimum of effort.

6/ Headphones - Don't get me wrong. The headphones that are supplied with the Ipod are not that bad. In fact, as 'normal' - 'in the ear' ear bud headphones go, they are actually quite good. But unfortunately they are still vastly inferior to what you can get elsewhere.
