Feb. 20 lecture at UTA on possibility of alien life

Princeton University Professor of Astrophysical Science and International Affairs Christopher F. Chyba will present a free public lecture titled “The Possibility of Life Elsewhere in the Universe," as part of an international lecture and seminar series organized by the National Research Council’s Space Studies Board.

Additionally, a panel of local scientists from a number of space-related disciplines will precede the lecture, offering a chance for the scientific community and the public to discuss the future of space science and exploration.

This is the sixth event of “Forging the Future of Space Science: The Next 50 Years,” a yearlong series of public seminars and colloquia focused on examining new discoveries in space science and looking ahead to new opportunities. To be held at the University of Texas, Austin, on Feb. 20, the panel sessions will run from 2:45 p.m. to 5 p.m. CST in the Applied Computational Engineering and Sciences building, Room 2.302, and the lecture will begin at 7:30 p.m. CST in Welch Hall, Room 2.224.
